Rules for the Worked All States in a Weekend Contest
The White House Communications Agency Amateur Radio Club’s “Worked All States in a Weekend Contest” is held every XXXXX and is open to all members of the club.
Purpose: To work as many states in a 48 hour period during a weekend.
Scoring: Each U.S. States are each assigned “points” based on the number of Congressional Seats for each state. To make the contest more Equitable and interesting, the points assigned to each state is the “inverse” of the Congressional Seats for each state. The result is that states with large populations and therefore easier to work. Smaller states are more difficult to work so fewer points are assigned to them This works out to be Large State = less points, Small states = more points. Each QSO’s are assigned 1 point each.
Example: California has 52 congressional seats Vermont has 1 congressional seat. Individual state points are calculated as follows”
California, 53 – 52 (congressional seats = 1 Point
Vermont, 53 – 1 (congressional seat) = 52 Points
2 contacts = 2 points
The contest score is therefore : 1 + 52 +2 = 55 total points.
