HB9RG Trophy – Distance Challenge (March 2026)

Event Dates:
March 2, 00:00 UTC – March 15, 23:59 UTC

Overview

To commemorate the first-ever satellite QSO on March 10, 1965, AMSAT‑HB is hosting a two‑week operating competition focused on long‑distance satellite contacts.

Participants will aim to complete their 10 farthest satellite QSOs during the event period. These 10 QSOs form the core of each operator’s score.

A special Bonus Day will take place on March 10, featuring activity from HB9RG. A confirmed QSO with HB9RG on this day awards 500 bonus points.

Operating Rules (Summary)

  • Only QSOs made via LEO, MEO, and HEO satellites count toward distance scoring.
  • GEO satellites (Es’hail‑2 / QO‑100) are not permitted for distance scoring.
  • Exception: A QSO with HB9RG on QO‑100 during the Bonus Day is allowed and awards 500 bonus points.
  • Operators may earn a maximum of 500 bonus points — one HB9RG QSO is all that’s required.
  • The primary focus of the Trophy remains the 10 longest-distance QSOs.

Full rules will be published separately.
